What does the warranty cover?
Your warranty includes a 25-year coverage on your new solar panels.
What if I sell my home prior to the end of the solar service agreement?
If you sell your home, studies show the average home with solar installed will increase in value by 4.1%. Your future homeowner will be purchasing a home that has electricity savings built in.
What if I lose power? Do my panels still work?
That depends on the product you purchased. With a whole home battery back-up system your power will seamlessly transfer to back-up power. If an SMA system is employed, we can provide power to certain devices when the sun is present. Systems without either of those two products will shut down to protect those working to fix the outage.
What happens if I need to remodel or update my roof during the agreement term?
Let us know at least 15 days in advance of your home improvements so that we can work with you to schedule removal of your solar panels. Once your improvements are complete, we will reinstall the panels. You will not be responsible for the time and material expenses for removing and reinstalling the panels.
When do payments start if I finance my system?
Payments to the financing company will begin 60 days after your solar system is installed. In the circumstance that interconnection issues delay the system being turned on, we will reimburse you for all solar payments made to the financing company until the system is providing you cleaner and cheaper power. This policy eliminates the risk for homeowners to pay a solar bill and their normal electric bill.
Will I still be on the electric grid?
Yes, your solar system will still be connected to the grid. The connection between your solar system and the electric grid, which we identified as net metering, enables you to both consume energy from the grid and export it.
What is net metering?
With a net metering program, your utility company will credit you for any energy solar system produces that you don’t use – your meter will spin backwards and build a “bank” of those credits. If you use more energy than your solar system produce, you pay the utility for that energy.
Will I receive a bill from both the utility company and my solar provider?
Yes. You will continue receiving a bill from your utility company for basic service and any power needs not supplied by your solar system. You will receive a separate bill for your solar service agreement.
How much will my utility bill be?
Your solar provider cannot guarantee what your bill from the utility company will be after going solar. The bill will depend on the amount of energy you use from the grid after your solar production is subtracted, which was presented to you as an estimate based on your usage from the previous year. It does not factor in any adjustments in future energy usage, like installing a pool or a hot tub on your property.
How will know if my solar system is working properly?
Your solar agreement offers 24/7 monitoring to ensure your system is producing the amount of power estimated in your agreement. If there is an issue, chances are we will be able to identify it and fix it even before you realize it isn’t working. As our customer, you are also offered real-time monitoring of the system you will be able to access and track.
What happens to my system at night or when it’s cloudy?
When the sun goes down, any extra energy you produce during the day is pushed back into the grid, offsetting your energy use at night or when is cloudy. During the summer months, your system will produce the most energy, so the credits you’ve earned during those days of overproduction will be helpful during the winter months when the days are shorter.
Utah State Tax Incentive
- Eligibility: Residential Tax Credit Amount for Solar PV The residential Solar PV tax credit is phasing out and currently (installations completed in 2020) the tax credit is calculated as 25 percent of the eligible system cost or $1,600, whichever is less for installations on residential dwelling units.
In 2023, the maximum tax credit will be $400. For installations after December 31, 2023, there will not be a tax credit available for solar PV.
- Applying during tax season: At the bottom of this page you will find an application to apply for the Utah Renewable Energy Systems Tax Credit (RESTC).
